What We Do
Responsibilities/Financial obligations:
- Liability insurance for Friends
- Building insurance
- Outside building maintenance including air conditioners, water heater
- Activities costs
- May purchase things for library as needed
Purpose
We support and enhance the operations of the Pottsboro Area Library through membership dues, donations and events. Areas of focus include:
- Planning activities and special events
- Fundraising
- Membership
- Requesting Grants
Activities and Events
- Community awareness
- Memberships
- Book sales
- Assist with Summer Reading Program
- Annual spring luncheon
- Special events such as spring flower fundraiser
- Volunteer assistance
- Showcase for collections and events
What We Have Accomplished
Beginning in 1985, held numerous events and worked diligently to establish a library including:
- Christmas Tours of Homes
- Bake sales
- Garage sales
- Book sales
- Annual Membership Drives
- Annual Spring Luncheon
- Plant and flower sales
- Grant writing
- Gala events
- Purchased new books
- Catalog, sort and shelve donated books
- Purchased a building
- Sold original building, purchased a “new” one
- Provided volunteers during business hours to keep the library open
- Purchased shelves and furniture
- Provided funds for librarian’s salary
- Provided funds to remodel the library in 2014
